Starting HVPS rev 3
In the traditional analog oscilloscope design, there are two power supply sections: the Low Voltage Power Supply (LVPS) and the High Voltage Power Supply (HVPS). This series documents the design, construction, and validation of the third and hopefully final revision of my scope's HVPS.
- 110V input. This relatively high input voltage keeps the boost ratio low, allows a simple buck+inverter topology, and this voltage is already planned to be provided by the LVPS.
- Outputs: +8kV, -2kV, 6.3V (floating filament supply)
- Phase lock to the system SMPS reference for reduced current noise interference
- Switching frequency of 50 kHz (buck), 25 kHz (inverter)
